Idilu

Pronounced: IH-dih-loo

Idilu came to Ebenezer with his mother, Nibret (pronounced NIH’-bih-ret), when he was just one month old. His mother was 15 years old at the time and had been raped, which was the reason she had Idilu. After choosing to give her son life, even under the terrible circumstances, Nibret decided that being a mother at 15 years old was too much to handle. She went to Ebenezer intending to drop Idilu off there after finalizing all the paperwork. However, when the time came to say goodbye to her son a week after arriving at Ebenezer, she wept. She didn’t want to leave him. Argaw offered for her to stay with her son while continuing her education here in Hawassa, and she gladly accepted. Idilu is thriving while living with his mom at Ebenezer. He has lots of buddies to play with and lots of mamas (on top of his own) that love and care for him.
