Mira

Pronounced: MEE-rah

Mira was one of only two babies born within the Ebenezer family in July 2025. Her mother, Yodit, had come in March of that year to be cared for by the ministry when she was nearing the end of her pregnancy. She had been taken advantage of by a man she had known and her family wanted to hide the pregnancy from their community. Her family encouraged Yodit to abandon the baby at the hospital immediately after giving birth, but Yodit had already become deeply in love with the child growing inside of her. After talking to Rachel about it, she decided to take up the offer of staying at Ebenezer with her baby until they could get on their feet together. Yodit let Rachel help her name her daughter and they chose the name Mira, which means “ocean” as well as “beauty.”
